Cosa ti rende felice?

Let me tell you about my week! It went something like this:

We decided to try "sign finding"🤠 it's pretty self explanatory, all you do is write a question on a sign and ask people what they think! It works really well because it's a fun icebreaker and a great Segway into the gospel. The problem (with sign finding and also in general) is kids. Our sign said "what makes you happy" and I can't tell you how how kids told us inappropriate things. Actually an old guy made an inappropriate joke too so that's not cool. On the brightside, we had some good talks and got a ladies number!

Our progress with Fabio seems to have found a hiccup. He doesn't understand why he needs to be baptized and he also hasn't prayed about it so we're gonna tell him that's fairly important. General conference is coming up and I'm really hoping he can find his answer there. That is actually my challenge for everyone: bring a question or two for General conference and listen intently for the spirits answer

Italian for the week: "cuore" is heart😍

Some Boomer Put Me in a Headlock

Italian, forever and always, is a work in progress. It's funny because I'm losing some of my English but I'm not picking up any Italian🤷 as Trump said "this has been the worst trade offers in the history of trade offers, maybe ever"

I'm trying to compliment people more because it's not very hard (both in a general sense and language sense) so this story starts in church. There is this member that's physical abusive but he's like 90 so it doesn't do much. Anyways after putting me in a head lock right as church ended, I told him I liked his tie. He wasted no time to take it off and offer it to me. I thought he was about to tell me to trade ties and I was about to put HIM in a head lock because I just bought the tie I was wearing. Turns out he's just real nice and gave it to me. He told me it's something i can remember him bye so I hope he's not thinking that he'll die soon

Things stay dope with our homeboy Fabio. He was more than willing to exept the word of wisdom, chastity and tithing. We are trying to set a date for baptism soon because us Anziani are selfish😂 just kidding but we both want to be here before one us us gets transfered

I'm kinda weird: I like to think of myself in inside out (the movie about feelings) anyways remember the part with the core memories where the girl had around 5 yellow core memory balls and sadness started touching them and making them blue? Basically i just write down my core memories when I have them so I figured I'd share one I had a few days ago...

Match 18, 2022 in Monterotondo: Anziano Checketts and I are leaving the apartment and we are waiting for this guy on his scooter to pass us so we can turn left. This full grown man (50 give or take) had two airpods in jamming to what we guess was "superstition" by Stevie Wonder (or whatever it's equivalent in Italian would be). Anyways this mysterious man seemed shy as he was looking at us but as the time passed by... he saw my friendly wave coupled with our smiles from ear to ear and a smile bursed forth on his face and he couldn't contain the funk of the beat. He scooted passed us with a bright light, mouthing the words to his song. Once Anziano Checketts and I regained consensness, we saw him riding away with his foot tapping along to the beat. His vibe was immaculate and something that should be mirrored. I'm grateful for this man and his bright influence on my life

Just like my good friend Elder Reeves said, what a spectacular gift that life is! It's such a wonderful chance to learn and to grow and become like our heavenly father! "Life is a gift, and I do not intend on wasting it"... I'll give someone 5 euro if they can tell me where thats from

Italian for the week- "abbastanza" means enough or sufficiente so you can say stuff was abbastanza and it means that it wasn't good or bad. At least that's what I think it is

Con amore e gioia,
Anziano Lewis

25th Weekly Email

Drip or drown ft my gucci sty💯🥵😈

We had a miracle this week. Our boy Mauro wasn't receiving our texts or calls. It was strange because we knew he was interested and he would just ghost is like that but we didn't know how to contact him. It had been about 2-3 weeks so we decided to pray for him and ourselves. We called him immediately after the prayer and he answered! We set up a lesson and we were on our way.

Miracles are real. One thing that a good friend suggested to me was to record a few miracles from each day in my journal and when things get tough, look back at them and see how blessed you really are.

Also we all bought a new suit. Once we get it back from the tailor, yall can expect a pic or two. Or 7 idk I'll see when I get there. And I'm sorry this emails too short, I'll send a bunch of pics to make up for it

Italian for the week: "abito" means suit

24th Weekly Email

This week was a movieee😆📸🤩 a horror movie😈😰 just kidding hahah it was actually really fun!

We started the week off with a call from this random guy asking for a blessing for his dad. We had no idea who it was but the next day we pulled up and it turns out that his parents are super active in the church however his dad got Covid and he is not doing very well.

We gave him a blessing and it was amazing. We later talked with Luis (the son that called us) and it turns out he had just returned from a mission but had become inactive. It was dang hard to hear how much he loved his mission and serving others but because of the hard times he's encountered, he felt that God lost him. We will be working with him trying to get him back to church!

Semi funny story: on Monday we had a fun mini lesson with our boy Fabio and Andrea (one of my favorite members). Anyways as we were talking about commandments, this guy rolls us and asked us (while we were speaking Italian) "do yall have any cigirettes?"... so we all kind exchange confused looks😧 and Andrea responded "we... don't smoke" in his best American accent😂 then guy then goes off for a minute about how we are good people and it's smart because smoking is bad for us. He basically taught the Word of Wisdom lesson for us but it's a shame because he walked out of the caffè with a fresh pack and a cig in his mouth

We also started this morning motivation where the last person to get out of bed gets pancaked. That means that the other 3 Anziani in the apartment jump as high as they can while... simeoltanuoisly spreading your arms and legs and landing on the person. They become a pancake 🥞 it's exhilarating and only a little bit dangerous

My weekly spiritual thought is about faith and hard times. In Luis's house, they had about 2 signs per room that said...

"solo tenere abbia fede" which means "just have faith"

1 Nephi 11:17 says "I know that he loveth his children; nevertheless, I do not know the meaning of all things"... I really like this. God has a perfect plan for us. He loves us too much to throw random challenges at us SO takes your hardships and learn from them and grow closer to Christ when you do so. We may not know why he's challenging us but just keep having faith that he'll lead you to what you need😊

Italian for the week: di meno means "say less"

23rd Weekly Email

HUMP DAY COMES A DAY EARLY 🐕

Greetings everyone. This week went by speedily but there was some good content so get ready!

As for the work, it's good! Never better. As for our boy Fabio, we set a date for baptism🥳 we have a recent convert named Andrea and we got them to be very good friends. It's so dope because we got Andrea in on the lesson and he bore the most sweetest testimony of his baptism and he basically put Fabio on date by himself. We haven't told him that he needs to quit caffè but it should be easier than cigirettes, right?😀 ... right?😧

We are still working on Dario. Quitting smoking isn't quite as easy as we imagined. He will occasionally break and take a smoke and then beat him self up and text us at 3am that hell never get baptized. Sadly we can't hold his hand and tuck him into bed for two weeks before his baptism. Agency is the best and worst gift know to man

We actually had a lesson with him and his dad, Michele (a member) and it was about 3 Nephi 18 and Jesus Christ's atonement. It was fun and the spirit was strong until Rudy (the dog that bit me) started grinding everythangg he's got on Michele. To be fair, I thought they were cuddling but Rudy kept walking away out of breathe and that was the first red flag. Hahah then Michele stood up and that's when I realized Rudy was humping him. Honesty it took way too much of my attention away. 10 outta 10 still a good lesson and quite entertaining

Sadly we don't talk to as many people on the street here so there arent as many interesting interactions however, here are some of the weeks highlights:

- Matteo gave my the sickest fade of my life (post cut pic below)
- I was given this Italian book about a cowboy and a prostitute on the Canadian frontier
- I'm doing some drawings, that will turn to paintings eventually, of pictures that I took in Rome
- there was just about a fist fight in elders courum

This week went by so fast. I guess that's what happens when you are gathering Israel😁 in a sense, I am kidding but also I'm not. I'm so happy for the chance to be raised with the gospel in my family and I'm very proud to tell people about it. It reminds me of Romans 1:16 that says "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth"

Italian for the week: "buona notte" means goodnight
